Celebration of grandparents' day

Jeppu, Sun, September 15 2024: The Grandparents Day was celebrated by the Society of St Vincent de Paul to commemorate the establishment of the association by Bl. Frederic Ozanam and the festivities began with the Holy Mass which was offered by Rev. Fr Naveen Pinto - Administrator, St Joseph Seminary, Jeppu and was joined by our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Maxim D'Souza. The liturgy was conducted by the members of the Society of St Vincent de Paul. During the mass, all the people who were aged 60 and above were administered the Sacrament of Extreme Unction. 

A small function was held at Maria Jayanti Mandir ,Where 120 people attended. The event was presided over by Rev. Fr Francis D'Souza - Coordinator, Society of St Vincent de Paul, Mangalore Diocese. The function began with a prayer service by Bro. Ligoury Fernandes and lighting of the lamp. The welcome speech was delivered by Bro. Ligoury Fernandes, the President of SSVP. On the stage present were Rev. Fr Francis D'Souza, Mrs Jacintha Vijaya Alfred - Corporator (Falnir Ward) and Mr Olwin Miranda - Vice President, PPC. Rev. Fr Francis D'Souza gave a message about Bl. Frederic Ozanam and explained about the challenges and difficulties that people face and that everything has a solution. He also taught an action song.

After that, the games were conducted by Mrs Gretta Carvalho and Sr Divya. Also the Parish Priest conducted some entertainment activities. The event was concluded with lunch and gifts were given to the people
